Shifting Seasons, Consistent Care Maintaining Your Health as Days Get Shorter

As we move past the Equinox, the shift in the seasons is becoming undeniable. You have likely noticed that the days are getting shorter, with the sun rising later and setting earlier. With these changes, our daily schedules often shift, and we naturally find ourselves spending less time outside.

However, just because the season is changing doesn't mean your health routine should fall by the wayside. Here is how to stay on track as we head into the darker months.

Stay Safe While Staying Active

It is vital to keep up your physical activity, but if your routine involves walking or exercising early in the morning or later in the evening, the changing light requires extra precautions.

If you are out in the dark, make sure you are visible. We recommend using:

  • Safety harnesses and reflective gear.

  • Headlamps or lights.

This isn't just so drivers and other people can see you; it is also so you can see the road to avoid missteps or injuries.

Avoid the "Feeling Good" Trap

At Vogelgesang Family Chiropractic, we see a very common cycle. Patients come in, commit to care, and start feeling significantly better. They start taking better care of themselves and see real improvements.

However, once they reach that point where they feel good, they often get busy or simply slack off. They stop doing the very routine that got them healthy in the first place, and inevitably, they go backward.

Protect Your Investment in Health

You have invested time, money, and effort to feel better. The goal is to make sure you continue that effort so you can either keep improving or stay at your optimal level.

Many patients notice that when they stretch out and do their exercises daily, they feel much better. The takeaway is simple: keep doing the things that made you feel good in the first place. Remember the habits that are additive to your health and stick with them, regardless of the season.
